APPLYING FOR RESIDENCY IN SPAIN

If you reside in Spain you should obtain a formal residence permit.

If you are an EU citizen, then as of 2007, all that is required is a simple one page Certificate of Registration, which does not need to be renewed and replaces the previous residency card.

The certificate also contains the N.I.E number which identifies you to the Spanish tax authorities.

It is impossible to carry out any official or banking transaction without this number.
