We all love the summer months on the Costa del Sol, when the days are long and hot. Unfortunately this can be a dangerous time for property owners; the recent fires that stretched from Mijas to Marbella served as a powerful reminder of the necessity of insuring our homes and possessions against situations such as this.

Once the blaze was extinguished by the brave and hard-working fire services, the damage was estimated to cover 684 hectares including areas of Mijas, Ojén and Marbella. The intensity and speed of the fires resulted in 500 people being evacuated from 300 properties thought to be most at risk.

From being detected at 20:30hrs on Sunday, the fire was only finally considered to be totally extinguished at 22:00hrs on Tuesday evening, although it had been brought under control that same morning.
